Processes requests to speak at a City Council meeting which are due by 5:00p.m. on Tuesday of the week prior to a City Council meeting. Form is available for download here.

Processes requests to speak regarding an item already listed on a City Council agenda which are due by 5:00p.m. on Friday of the week prior to a City Council meeting. Form is available for download here.

Administers joint elections including City of Hondo/Hondo Independent School District races and propositions.

  • General Elections are held every year on the second Saturday in May.

  • The Mayor and City Council are elected for two-year terms.

Coordinates the compilation of state mandated Conflict Disclosure Statements and Conflict of Interest Questionnaires for City officials and vendors.

Coordinates the compilation of state mandated Open Government Training for City Officials (including board and commission members)

Processes public bid announcements, invitations and specifications; coordinates bid conferences and openings. Bids can be viewed on our Public Notices page.   (Coordinator: Gloria Colbath and/or Sandra Rodriguez-Torres)

Sells cemetery plots (Coordinator: Adrianna Campos)

Signs TABC applications for permits/licenses to sell alcohol within Hondo city limits. Collects permit/license fee which is half the amount assessed by the state.

Oversees Municipal Court and Building Custodian functions.
